You can make a difference.

How many people does it take to make a difference? It takes everyone who cares about children and understands that education is the great equalizer.

Since 1983, Community Preparatory School has been making a difference in the lives of deserving young students who want to learn and demonstrate exceptional motivation. As an innovative independent school, unique in its philosophy, Community Prep offers its students a nurturing learning environment that fosters respect and challenges youngsters to attain ambitious academic goals.

Recognized for academic and financial support of low-income children, 84% of Community Prep students receive significant scholarship aid. The school's funding model is unlike that of most independent schools. Contributions to Community Prep's Annual Scholarship Fund account for nearly 80% of its $2 million operating budget.

How does a school with fewer than 500 alumni, most of whom are barely past college, accomplish this?
With your support.

Your individual generosity, invested in our vision and mission, allows us to open our doors to the deserving children waiting to succeed. Thank you for considering a contribution to Community Preparatory School.

TYPES OF FUNDS
Community Preparatory School has a variety of funds that donors may choose to support, including:

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Annual Scholarship Fund is the essential source of tuition assistance for Community Prep students. Each year the school must raise more than $1 million for this purpose. Contributions to this fund directly impact financial assistance offered to students.

Community Prep Annual Fund Levels

Headmaster's Club--Charter $30,000 or more
Headmaster's Club--Leadership $18,000 - $29,999
Headmaster's Club--Pioneer $9,000 - $17,999
Sponsors $5,000 - $8,999
Partners $2,500 - $4,999
Patrons $1,000 - $2,499
Contributors $500 - $999
Boosters $250-$499
Friend $249 or less

ENDOWMENT
Community Prep's endowment has grown to $11 million thanks to the generosity of all who contributed to our recent Bright Future Fund Endowment Campaign. Continuing to grow the endowment is crucial to the school reaching the depth of program that is described in Vision 2015. To achieve this vision, we need to increase our endowment to $26 million so that annual endowment interest matches what the school is able to raise for the Annual Scholarship Fund. Endowment allows the school to permanently fund scholarships, programs, and staff positions. A gift of 20 times the cost of the funded item will endow it in your name forever. Please call Dana DiMarco at 401-521-9697 or Dan Corley at 401-521-9696 to learn more.

MERIT SCHOLARS PROGRAM
In May 2004, Community Prep began recognizing Merit Scholars. This program provides financial aid for eager students from diverse backgrounds with a variety of talents and interests. All students who wish to compete to become Merit Scholars will take an examination that is designed and graded by Community Prep's faculty. The top scorer is then interviewed for the purpose of insuring that the student is likely to benefit in the long term from attending 6th through 8th grade. Once designated a Merit Scholar, the school commits to provide necessary financial aid to that student through all three grades.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Community Prep hosts a Golf Tournament each year. The event supports the school's Annual Scholarship Fund and has numerous sponsorship opportunities for individuals and companies. On alternate years the School hosts an art-related event. Contributions of art as well as sponsorships are welcomed. For more information on all special events contact Diane Ellis at 401-521-9697.

PLANNED GIFTS and BEQUESTS
Community Prep welcomes the opportunity to work with individual donors who would like to support CP while maximizing tax considerations and potential life income associated with specially planned charitable gifts or estates. Donors may fund gifts with a variety of assets including cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, or life insurance. Individuals who name Community Prep in their estate plans are recognized as members of the Founders Society and are honored at a special annual event. For more information call Dan Corley at 401-521-9696.
