On Thursday, November 30, Community Preparatory School staff and students participated in a school-wide walk-a-thon benefitting The Tomorrow Fund in memory of Anaija Griffin '20. The Tomorrow Fund is a Providence-based nonprofit organization that provides financial and emotional support to families whose children are battling cancer at Hasbro Children's Hospital. The Tomorrow Fund was a critical support system for the Griffin family throughout Anaija's battle with cancer.
Students and staff collected donations by encouraging friends and family to support their walk.
At least one group of students could be seen walking laps around the block at any given time throughout the school day. Our students and stuff proudly paraded in blue, which was Anaija’s favorite color.
Alumni participated in the walk-a-thon as well, arriving to Community Prep after their school day finished. Dorian Griffin, Anaija’s mom, and Lisa Abbenante, executive director of The Tomorrow Fund, also stopped by to see the walk-a-thon in action.
Community Prep students raised $3,225 for The Tomorrow Fund in honor of Anaija.
The AACt now! Capital Campaign will raise $12.75 million for the school's expansion and scholarship endowment. More...
